About
Medicine has its place.
So does how we live every day.
Where the name came from, and what we are actually trying to build.
Somewhere along the way, looking after your health became a full-time job
Every week brings a new device, a new protocol, a new expert contradicting last week's expert. Some of it is genuinely remarkable. Some of it is marketing wearing a lab coat. Most people cannot tell the difference, not because they are not clever, but because nobody is being straight with them.
Meanwhile a strange divide has opened up. On one side, medicine: brilliant, essential, and mostly waiting for something to go wrong. On the other, a wellness industry that too often positions itself against medicine, trading in suspicion and certainty in equal measure.
We think that divide is false, and we think it costs people.
Medistic Living takes its name from medicine and holistic. When you need a doctor, you need a doctor, and we will always say so. But between appointments there is a whole life being lived: water, sleep, food, movement, recovery, the air in your home, the choices you make on an ordinary Tuesday. That life shapes your wellbeing enormously. It deserves the same seriousness we give to medicine.
So we go looking. We find the technologies and ideas emerging in everyday wellbeing, some from Japanese engineering, some from research labs, some from places you would never expect. We read the studies. We ask the people who did the work. We explain what we find in language a person can actually use, and we are honest about where the evidence is strong, where it is early, and where it simply is not there yet.
Then we let people experience it. Talks, demonstrations, events, consultants who can show you rather than tell you. Because reading about something and standing in front of it are different kinds of understanding.
And then we stop. We do not tell anyone what they must buy or how they must live. That was never the point. The point is that you should be able to look at your own wellbeing clearly, understand your options, and decide for yourself.
The name
MEDicine + holISTIC = MEDISTIC
Not medicine or holistic living. Both, held together, because that is how a real life actually works. And Living, because this is about how people live, not only about what they do when something goes wrong.
What we believe
Six things that shape everything we publish.
Curiosity before certainty
We start with questions rather than conclusions, and we are comfortable saying we do not know yet.
Clarity is respect
If someone does not understand it, we have not finished explaining it. Jargon is usually a hiding place.
Honest about the limits
We say the research is early when the research is early, even when a bolder claim would sell better.
Medicine has its place
Pro-doctor, pro-evidence, pro-medicine, and pro-everyday-living too. These were never opposites.
People before products
Nobody here is a lead. The decision is always yours, including the decision that none of this is for you.
Better together
Wellbeing is easier alongside other people. That is the community part, and it is optional.
Get in touch
Questions, corrections, an event you would like us to bring somewhere, or a technology you think we should be looking at. All of it is welcome.
If you think we have overstated a piece of research, please do tell us. We would rather fix it than leave it standing.
